Is it better to nail or glue panelling?

The best installation method depends on the location. For SPC & shower wall panels, to ensure a 100% waterproof surface, they need to be glued in place and finished with a waterproof sealant.

For panelling kits, you have the freedom of installing with adhesive or screws/nails. Glue offers a cleaner look, which is more ideal for panelling kits, but might not provide enough support if you have an uneven wall.

Nailing is a stronger option and is better for installing on uneven walls, but it can leave visible depressions that may need painting over. You would also need to identify wall studs and wires before installing, which can be more time-consuming.

Acoustic panelling has the flexibility of both options, without the majority of drawbacks. They can be glued onto a wall or screwed in, and using black screws can effectively hide them from view.
