Do you need planning permission for patio doors?

In most cases, you won't need planning permission to install patio doors, especially if you're replacing existing windows or doors. If this is a brand new opening, expanding the size of your home, or live in a listed building or conservation area, you might need permission. It's always worth checking with your local planning office before starting any work.

What's the difference between French Doors and Sliding Patio Doors?

French doors are a classic style, opening in or out and usually featuring multiple glass panels. They work well for smaller openings, but can also suit larger ones with sidelights. Sliding doors, on the other hand, slide horizontally along a track, saving space and letting in maximum light with large glass panels. Your choice depends on your style and the space available.

Do you have your patio doors open in or out?
