What are door architraves?
An architrave is the interior moulding that frames your doors. It is used to both enhance the look of a room and hide unsightly seams and joints in the wall that are often impossible to conceal. Commonly made from MDF, softwood, and hardwood, architraves come in many styles to suit the style of your home or the decor theme you’ve created.
What is the difference between a door frame and an architrave?
An architrave is just as much a part of a door frame as the jambs and door lining. The door frame is the supportive structure that holds the wall opening together, and the architrave creates an added aesthetic, depending on the style you choose.
What are the types of architrave?
Architraves are typically engineered in MDF, solid timber oak, and white. But we supply a wide range of materials, colours, and finishes to ensure the perfect look for your home.
Types Of Architrave
There are three main categories of architrave:
Bullnose Architrave
A widely popular style, the bullnose architrave is a flat frame with a curved edge, providing a timeless, clean finish.
Decorative Architrave
With an ornamental look, the decorative architrave features grooves and uneven surfaces and mostly appears in older houses.
Square Architrave
With straight edges and no curves, a square architrave is the simplest type of architrave and is becoming more popular with the growing contemporary style homes being built and renovated today.
Here at Leader Online, we have many styles of architrave for you to choose from. Matching your architrave to your window frames and skirting boards can result in a clean look for any room.
