The range of oak bifolding doors from Leader Online
Our internal oak bifolding doors are available in different finishes, styles and types to cater to your specific needs.
Finishes:
- Fully Finished - Your oak bifolding doors are ready to hang from the moment they arrive at your home. They arrive with a coat of lacquer having already been applied at our factory. No painting or staining is required at your end, which saves you time and stress.
- Unfinished - You have a blank canvas to work from when you purchase unfinished oak bifolding doors. They are raw timber, meaning you have complete creative control over the look and feel. You can sand, stain, paint, or oil your door from scratch.
- Primed - You have the best of both worlds with our primed oak bifolding doors as they come with a factory-applied base coat of white primer, ready for you to apply your topcoat in your chosen colour.
Styles:
- Grooved - Our grooved internal oak bifolding doors feature real oak veneer and decorative vertical or horizontal V-grooves for a clean, modern look.
- Shaker - Our shaker-style doors feature a clean panel design that works in both modern and traditional interiors.
Types:
- Glazed - Our glazed oak bifolding doors allow natural light to flow freely between rooms while maintaining a clear separation between rooms. As such, they’re ideal for kitchens, dining rooms, and hallways where you want to create an open-plan yet defined space.
- Panelled - Our panelled oak bifold doors feature traditional recessed or raised panels in a folding format, and come in many different styles, from Farley to 1930s.
These are some of the most common questions we get from our customers regarding oak bifolding doors.
Why choose internal oak bifold doors?
Oak bifold doors offer a high-quality finish that enhances any space. Their warm, timeless appeal complements both classic decor and modern interiors, and their popularity is in-keeping with the heavy shift towards nature-inspired design which we’re seeing in our industry.
Oak is a premium, durable hardwood that can withstand daily wear and tear and remain in top condition for years. Our modern oak bifold doors are built around an engineered solid core, which does not expand and contract with humidity changes as much as solid timber. It is therefore less prone to splitting, cracking, or warping.
Furthermore, oak bifold doors are energy efficient thanks to their dense structure, which provides excellent natural insulation. The structure helps to keep heat in your rooms during winter, in turn lowering your energy bills. This is a godsend given some of the geopolitical shocks and soaring energy costs we’ve seen in recent years!
Should I choose glazed or unglazed oak bifold doors?
Whether you choose glazed or unglazed oak bifold doors depends on the privacy and amount of spatial separation you want. It also depends on whether you value sound absorption.
With glazed bifold doors, their integrated glass panels increase natural light flow between rooms. This reduces reliance on artificial lighting and makes dark hallways, landings, and internal spaces feel instantly brighter and more welcoming. However, if you want a certain level of privacy or restricted visibility between one room and the other, you should consider obscure glass as opposed to clear when picking your door.
With unglazed bifold doors, the maintenance required is slightly different in that you’re not having to clean glass panels, and there’s a clear enclosure and divide between spaces. However, you don’t get the same openness and exposure to natural light as you would with a glazed door.

How do I maintain my oak bifold doors?
Whether you go for a glazed or unglazed door, the basic maintenance steps you should follow are pretty much the same.
We recommend dusting them with a dry, lint-free microfibre cloth at least once a month and giving them a deeper clean roughly once every six months.
When you do a deep clean, you should wipe down the frames with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth and vacuum the tracks using a narrow nozzle attachment. This will clear any dirt, grit, or other debris that’s gathered around the rollers and hinge points. You should also lubricate the rollers every six months using a silicone-based spray.
If you have a glazed oak bifolding door, don’t use tap water to clean it, as it contains minerals that will leave streaks on your clean glass panes.
